Checkered socks

CO 60 sts and join in the round.

Round 1-6: *k5, p5*, repeat between * and * to the end of the round.
Round 7-12: *p5, k5*

Repeat round 1-12 two more times, then start decreasing:

Round 1: *k2tog, k3, p5, k5, p5*
Round 2-5: *k4, p5, k5, p5*
Round 6: *p4, k2tog, k3, p5, k5*
Round 7-10: *p4, k4, p5, k5*
Round 11: *k4, p4, k2tog, k3, p2tog, p3*
Round 12-15: *k4, p4*

You should now have 48 sts.

Continue with 4x5 squares until you have the desired length, like this:
Round 1-5: *p4, k4*
Round 6-10: *k4, p4*

I made mine about 40 cm long.

The heel:
(I use the heel decreasing  from Drops)

Put 24 sts on a separate needle and knit stockinette (RS: knit, WS: purl) back and forth. Decrease with one sts on both the first and second row = 22 sts, then continue stockinette for about 5 cm.

Heel decreases:
Round 1 (RS): knit until 6 sts remain, slip next st as it to knit, k1, psso, turn piece.
Round 2: purl until 6 sts remain, slip next st as it to p, p1, psso, turn.
Round 3: knit until 5 sts remain, slip next st as it to k, k1, psso, turn.
Round 4: purl until 5 sts remain, slip next st as it to p, p1, psso, turn.
Continue decreases like this with 1 less st before each dec until 12 sts remains.

Pick up 10 sts on each side of the heel decreasing, and join the work.
Continue the 4x5 st square pattern on the top of the foot, and knit stockinette over the rest of the sts.
On every other round, decrease one st on each side of the foot, using ssk on "the way up" and k2tog on the way down towards the heel, until you have 40 sts left.

Continue until about 2 cm from the tip of your toe.

Toe decreases:
Row 1: *k2tog, k4*
Row 2-3: knit
Row 4: *k2tog, k2*
Row 5: knit
Row 6: *k2tog, k1*
Row 7: k2tog

Pull yarn through the remaining sts and fasten.

super easy cowl

A super easy and quick cowl for those extra cold days, knitted sideways.

Use super bulky yarn and a 9 mm needle. I used 3,5 skeins of Drops Eskimo.

Cast on 40-50 sts. This will be the height of the cowl, which you'll later fold once. Knit garter stitch (RS and WS: knit) until it's long enough to go around your head (about 50 cm, based on how tight you want it). Bind off, sew the CO and BO sides together and fold once. If you CO 50 sts, it's wide enough to cover up your nose and still protect your neck, which was exactly what I was looking for.

A Little More Winter-Cowl

With 9 mm needles and super bulky yarn, CO 27 sts.
Border pattern:
Knit seed sts for six rows: k1, p1, repeat to the last st, k1.

Then start with the main pattern:
Wrong side: 5 seed sts (knit over purl, and purl over knit), p6, 5 seed sts, p6, 5 seed sts.
Right side: 5 seed sts, k6, 5 seed sts, k6, 5 seed sts.

Knit nine rows with this pattern, starting and ending with a wrong side row.
On the tenth row, knit a cable row: 5 seed sts, C6F, 5 seed sts, C6F, 5 seed sts.

(C6F = knit a cable pattern with six sts: slip three sts onto cable needle, hold it in front, knit the three next sts, knit the three sts from cable needle)

Repeat these ten rows seven more times.

Then knit the nine first WS and RS rows to «finish» the cable pattern

Finish off with the border pattern for six rows.
BO and add buttons.

I used oblong buttons, and therefore didn't need any button holes. If you want to use large round buttons, make button holes in the third row of the border pattern like this:
k1, p1, k1, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, yo, k2tog, p1, k1, p1, k1.

I recommend using buttons that don't need any button holes, then it's much easier to tighten the cowl if it expands.

knit about 6 rows

Baby It's Beer Outside

Love Thy Beer - Norsk

O = kast
/ = strikk to rett sammen
\ = ta en maske av som om den skulle strikkes rett,
strikk 1 rett, løft den løse maska over
/|\ = løft to masker rett av sammen, en rett, løft de to maskene over

Love thy beer

Use 3,5 mm needles and sport weight yarn.

heart pattern,
empty square = k
O = yo
/ = k2tog
\ = ssk
/|\ = slip 2 as if to k2tog, k1, pass slipped sts over

CO 40 sts and join in the round.
Knit one round.
Next row: yo, ssk, repeat to the end of the row.

Knit eight rounds.

Start on the heart-pattern chart. To make the heart pattern on both sides, knit seven sts after each row in the chart, then knit the same row from the chart again, and finish the row with seven knitted sts. This will make the total of 40 sts (13 from the chart + k7 + 13 from the chart + k7).

After finishing the chart, knit eight rounds.

Next row: yo, ssk, repeat to the end of the row.

Knit six rounds.

Then start the decreasing rows:
1. purl all sts
2. ssk, k3, repeat to the end of row
3. knit all sts
4. ssk, k2, repeat to the end of row
5. knit all sts
6. ssk, k1, repeat to the end of row
7. knit all sts
8. ssk all sts

Pull thread through the rest of the sts.
